The Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce teams up with Cocoa Beach native and New York producer Jeremy Merrifield to present “Broadway By The Beach” as part of the Chamber’s annual inaugural gala dinner. Broadway stars and Florida natives Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins), and Michael James Scott (The Book of Mormon) will star alongside Tony-nominee Josh Young and Wicked's Julia Murney in a special one night only benefit production of SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD. Written by three-time Tony-winning composer Jason Robert Brown and helmed by director Daniel Goldstein (Godspell), a portion of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to The Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Arts Fund benefitting local arts organizations and education programs.

The event is part of the Chamber’s annual inaugural gala welcoming new members to the Chamber’s board including 2015’s new chairman, Jeanna Merrifield, co-proprietor of Wild Ocean Seafood Market, a “Broadway By The Beach” sponsor and provider of the evening’s locally sourced dinner. In addition, the Chamber will present the prestigious Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor bestowed by the CBRCC. The award, a stunning John Letts bronze sculpture, is presented annually to the individual who best exemplifies leadership and commitment to the Chamber and the community.
Jason Robert Brown’s SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD, is a series of songs, connected by the theme "the moment of decision." The show employs four performers who do not play the same characters throughout the show, but have consistently developing character arcs. Composer Jason Robert Brown has said of his show, "It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back."
